SHUL ELECTIONS: The time has once again arrived for elections. Anyone interested in serving on the Shul's Board of Directors or in any other position please contact Eric Thall or Robert Koppel and let them know.

COURTESY TO OUR NEIGHBORS: Please make sure not to park your cars in any way that blocks our neighbors' driveways.

WEST HEMPSTEAD FOOD BANK: We know that there are many people in need, and we have the means to help. The West Hempstead Food Bank, which has been operating for a year, provides food on a totally confidential, anonymous basis. Food is available for everyday as well as for Shabbat. If you would like to obtain access to the food bank, please contact Rabbi Schwalb or call 917-656-1173. The food bank is not interested in knowing who you are, only that we can provide food to you and your family. For more information go to www.whfoodbank.org.

PROJECT ELIEZER: Thank you in advance for all you support for our friends and neighbors who have either lost jobs, are close to losing homes and in general are experiencing financial hardship. The Eliezer project is already helping 10 families from West Hempstead. Please forward any checks for contribution to Victor Oelbaum made out to the Young Israel of West Hempstead with a note on bottom "The Eliezer Project". If you have any questions you can contact Dr. Victor Oelbaum. If you want to volunteer services please contact Ellen Aronovitz at 516-284-2942.

SIMCHA SCHEDULING. In light of several recent simcha scheduling conflicts, please make sure when planning a simcha, that you notify and check with the Shul and West Hempstead community calendars. The shul calendar is maintained by Sully Diamond 486-1724. The WH Community Calendar is now being maintained by Wendy Pusateri, in the office of the Young Israel of West Hempstead. ECDP WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB. The next book club meeting will feature “Family Markowitz” and “Kaaterskill Falls” by Allegra Goodman on October 4th at 8:30 pm at the home of Rachel Hanuka, 801 Evergreen Drive. Family Markowitz is available at library now and the other book will be available in a few weeks.

 

COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD

RUNNING FOR THE BLUE CARD: Chani Nadboy, Lisa Kirschner & Shira Weiss are running November 7, 2010 in the New York City Marathon in conjunction with THE BLUE CARD to help and honor Holocaust survivors. The Blue Card is an organization with only one mission; that mission, is to get much-needed funds either on an emergency basis or as an ongoing stipend to needy Holocaust survivors. CAN YOU HELP?
