This year, the Yom Hashoah Committee is proud to present This year, the Yom Hashoah Committee is proud to present Donald Burris, senior partner in Burris, Schoenberg & Walden, and LLP, as our speaker.  Mr. Burris has devoted a significant amount of time over the past two decades to the pursuit of art works and other assets stolen by the Nazi authorities, both before and during World War II. In 2004, these efforts successfully culminated in the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Altmann v. Republic of Austria, which ultimately led to the Austrian government being ordered to return to the Ms. Altmann’s possession a number of priceless historic paintings by Gustav Klimt including  "Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I" (popularly known as “The Woman in Gold.”). Sponsorships are available for a one-line dedication for $36. Master Sponsors may insert a dedication of up to three lines for $100. (There is a maximum of 20 words per line for all dedications.) Please write your check to "Young Israel of West Hempstead" and indicate "Yom Hashoah Dedication" on your check. Checks must be received at the Young Israel office by April 24, 2016.

YOUTH DEPARTMENT NOTICES

EREV EREV PESACH TRIPS: As I'm sure you've probably heard, we are having two Youth Department trips on Erev Erev Pesach (also known as Thursday, April 21st). There are only a *tiny* handful of spots remaining for both trips, so please RSVP if you want to ensure a spot for your child! Here are the trip details (Transportation included, Pick-up/Drop-off at ECDP):
Nursery Alef - 2nd Grade: 11:00 am-1:45 pm, Warren Levi Martial Arts (Giant inflatable obstacle course! Games! Exercise drills! Pizza Lunch INCLUDED!). $25 members/$30 non-members.
1st Grade - 7th Grade: 2:00 pm - 5:45 pm, BOUNCE! (Trampolines, foam pits, trampoline dodgeball, and MORE! Snacks and water bottle included). $35 members/$45 non-members.

YOUTH GROUPS FIRST DAYS: We will be having groups as usual the first days of Pesach! Groups start at 10am and run until Shul is over. I'm sure you'll all be super sleepy from the seders that day, but we would love for you to come and tell us all about your Sedarim! If you're really tired you can bring your pillow and prop it up against the wall and take a nap; just lean a little bit and tell us that you're practicing for the next Seder, we'll probably fall for it

YOUTH GROUPS SECOND DAYS: Groups will run as usually is usual, from 10 am until Shul is over. We'll be having some special Pesach-themed activities at groups for the second days, stay tuned for more details! (Hint: Chocolate)

ECDP WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB: The next book club meeting featuring “The Boston Girlby Anita Diamant will take place Monday, May 2, 2016 at 8:30 pm at home of Leah Fish, 632 Jefferson Street. The books will be available at the West Hempstead library under Nancy’s book club.

New Combination for Sprague Entrance: Please be advised that we have replaced the lock for the Sprague entrance and have changed the combination. Please use the combination efes, vav, aleph, gimmel. Please note that the combination will be changed on a periodic basis. Please email house@ecdp.info if you have any questions or comments.

SHUL REMINDERS: Please do not bring any Strollers into the Shul. Strollers must remain outside all buildings. Please do not bring food into the new sanctuary. Please remember to make sure the doors are locked when you are the last or next to last person to leave the Shul. Thank you for your cooperation.

COURTESY TO OUR NEIGHBORS: Please make sure not to park your cars in any way that blocks our neighbors' driveways. Additionally, please do not walk through neighbors’ backyards on your way to and from the Shul unless you know that the family does not mind.

The West Hempstead Food Bank is now making available cards which can be given to your Shabbat hosts and/or used for any other occasion. All proceeds from the sales of the cards, which indicate that a donation has been made to the Food Bank, will be used to purchase food. TREES4EZRA.ORG: ECDP has been invited to join the thousands of others worldwide in planting trees in memory of Ezra Schwartz h"yd and to show the Schwartz family that we are all with them and share their pain in their time of need. The Schwartz family has asked that everyone plant trees in memory of Ezra. Together we can collectively plant a vineyard that will show the world something beautiful. If ECDP plants at least 100 trees collectively we will have our own permanently installed sign with the Shul's name and logo in the "Ezra Schwartz Vineyard". Trees can be planted at www.Trees4Ezra.org. Please be sure to use this link only as it has Eitz Chayim’s code built in so we can track how many trees were planted through ECDP.

IDENTIFICATION FOR CHILDREN: Parents should consider getting some form of ID for their children to carry with them at all times. Below is a link to one such website. Carrying ID is so important and quite inexpensive - starting at about $20. It is good to have on for Shabbat, biking, walking, running etc. when kids (or even adults) don't carry ID.
