THE MARK KALMANOWITZ FRIDAY NIGHT LEARNING PROGRAM The learning will continue through the winter months until we return the clock to daylight savings time on March 11, 2018, after Parshat Parah/Vayakhel-Pekudei. Every Friday night following Maariv a ten-minute dvar torah on the week's parsha is presented by a different person. This week's dvar torah will be delivered by Dr. David Levy.

MATANOT Laevyonim: Rabbi Schwalb is collecting funds that will be distributed on Purim day for the purpose of the mitzvah of Matanot LaEvyonim. The money will be divided between people who are in need locally and aniyei Israel. Anyone who wishes to fulfill the mitzvah through Rabbi Schwalb may give him cash or a check (made out to the Rabbi's Fund) anytime through Purim morning.

PURIM CHAGIGAH: Please join us for live music and dancing as we joyously celebrate Purim. Megillah reading at 6:15 pm followed directly by a dairy break the fast buffet and music.

Scholar in Residence Shabbaton: YIWH, ECDP & RZA are pleased to welcome Rabbi Dov Lippman to West Hempstead on Shabbat Parshat Shemini, April 13-14, 2018. Celebrating 70 years of the State of Israel. Rabbi Lipman will speak Friday night and Shabbat Day at ECDP. Kiddush to follow davening. Rabbi Dov Lipman is Executive Vice President for Government and Community Affairs of Innovation Africa, an organization that uses Israeli technology to bring water and electricity to African villages. He previously served in the 19th Knesset, having been elected in January 2013 with the Yesh Atid party, making him the first American born MK in nearly 30 years. He rose to national and international prominence for his role in combating religious extremism in Bet Shemesh. The author of seven books about Judaism and Israel, Rabbi Lipman holds rabbinic ordination from Ner Israel Rabbinical College and a Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University. NORPAC Mission to Washington: April 25: As we have every year for the last several, we urge all our members and the entire West Hempstead community, to participate in the annual NORPAC Mission to Washington DC. This year's event will take place on Wednesday, April 25. If you have participated in the past, you know the value of the day, to the relationship between the United States and Israel, and it you have not, it is a fascinating way to see how our government works, to be up close and personal with members of congress and their aides, from both parties. TU B'SHVAT SEDER CHALLENGE: Due to its immense popularity at groups, Tu B'Shvat Seder Challenge went overtime and we were not able to run it in our Pre-K and boys groups this past Shabbat. Therefore, we will be running it for them this week, Feb 17th. Don't miss out! This was easily one of the most popular and fun activities we've ever experienced!

FEBRUARY BIRTHDAY YOUTH KIDDUSH: On Shabbat, February 24th, we will be having our monthly "Youth Birthday Kiddush" at Shabbat Youth Groups, celebrating all children at groups who have their birthdays in February! PURIM: We can't wait to see all youth at night during Megillah Reading for fun fun fun! The toddlers will get to experience a fun and exciting music program, play games with Morah Faigy, and hear the story of Purim from our Youth Director, Rafi, and MORE! All older children will have the time of their lives competing in a fast-paced "Simon Says" game show, run by the world-famous "Simon Hyman"! MANC Winter hours: The mikvah zman has changed. Note new hours now in effect: Saturday nights: Mikvah hours: 6:30-10:30 pm. Sunday - Thursday nights, Mikvah hours: 6-10:30 pm. Motzei Shabbat & Sunday:  a community member is on duty until 7:30 pm. At 7:30 pm our regular attendant will come on duty. Please check the machine for new time as the zman changes. MANC looks forward to serving the needs of our growing community and appreciates your ongoing support.

MANC - Keilim Mikvah: Keilim mikvah hours are 9 am - 5 pm.

Combination for Sprague Entrance: The combination for the Sprague entrance is efes, vav, aleph, gimmel. Please note that the combination will be changed on a periodic basis. Please email house@ecdp.info if you have any questions or comments.

SHUL REMINDERS: Please do not bring any Strollers into the Shul. Strollers must remain outside all buildings. Please do not bring food into the new sanctuary. Please remember to make sure the lights are off and the doors are locked when you are the last or next to last person to leave the Shul. Thank you for your cooperation.

MEMO FROM THE WELCOMING COMMITTEE: The Welcoming Committee welcomes new families to West Hempstead. Additionally, they arrange a Friday night dinner to be delivered to new families for their first Shabbat. We are looking for more volunteers that would be interested in offering to bring Shabbat food for a new family when they move in. The West Hempstead Food Bank is now making available cards which can be given to your Shabbat hosts and/or used for any other occasion. All proceeds from the sales of the cards, which indicate that a donation has been made to the Food Bank, will be used to purchase food.
