SEAT SELECTION FOR YAMIM NORAIM 2014. Seat selection for the 2014 Yamim Noraim (High Holidays) will begin shortly. We will be sending out notices to members in good financial standing on or before September 1st for individual seat selection appointments, which will take place on September 3rd. Remaining seats will be available on a first come first served basis on the evening of September 4th. Appointment times will be allocated by lottery; ONLY MEMBERS WHO ARE IN GOOD FINANCIAL STANDING by August 25th will be eligible for the appointment lottery. Please note that seat selection by PROXY WILL ONLY BE PERMITTED FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED ADVANCE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE SHUL (i.e. your check in ECDP’s mailbox or your online PayPal payment must be received prior to the time your seats are selected)—NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE. YOUTH DEPARTMENT NOTICES

SHABBAT GROUPS: Shabbat Youth Groups will take place this summer at ECDP. Groups begin each week at 10 am and cool surprise treats will be given out each week. Tickets and prizes for all who attend. Even in the summer you have to be in it to win it, so hope to see you there.

SISTERHOOD NOTICES

ECDP WOMEN'S BOOK CLUB: The next book club meeting featuring “The Romance Reader” by Pearl Abraham will take place Tuesday, September 9th at 8:30 pm at home of Joni Nathanson, 672 Wildwood Road.  The books will be available at the West Hempstead library under Nancy’s book club.

SHUL NOTICES

SHUL REMINDERS: Please do not bring any Strollers into the Shul. Strollers must remain outside all buildings. Please do not bring food into the new sanctuary. Please remember to make sure the doors are locked when you are the last or next to last person to leave the Shul. Thank you for your cooperation.

ECDP Simcha Fund: It is the practice in many shuls to mark special occasions by donating to a shul charity fund. By giving to charity in connection with a simcha, we recognize that our simchas are dependent on Hashem’s abundant kindness. ECDP is pleased to announce the formation of a Simcha Fund. We look forward to celebrating many happy occasions with all of you over the coming years. COURTESY TO OUR NEIGHBORS: Please make sure not to park your cars in any way that blocks our neighbors' driveways. Additionally, please do not walk through neighbors’ backyards on your way to and from the Shul unless you know that the family does not mind.

The West Hempstead Food Bank is now making available cards which can be given to your Shabbat hosts and/or used for any other occasion. All proceeds from the sales of the cards, which indicate that a donation has been made to the Food Bank, will be used to purchase food. Cards are being sold in packages of 5 for a minimum $25 donation. To obtain the cards or for more information, please contact Amy Zehnwirth at amyzehn@gmail.com.


SIMCHA SCHEDULING. To avoid any simcha scheduling conflicts, please make sure when planning a simcha that you notify and check with the Shul and West Hempstead community calendars. The Shul calendar is maintained by Heather Rutner hwrutner@yahoo.com. The WH Community Calendar is maintained by Wendy Pusateri, in the office of the Young Israel of West Hempstead. IDENTIFICATION FOR CHILDREN: In light of the recent tragedy, parents should consider getting some form of ID for their children to carry with them at all times. Below is a link to one such website. Carrying ID is so important and quite inexpensive - starting at about $20. It is good to have on for Shabbat, biking, walking, running etc. when kids (or even adults) don't carry ID.
