ANNOUNCEMENTS

THE MARK KALMANOWITZ FRIDAY NIGHT LEARNING PROGRAM: This week's dvar torah will be delivered by Rabbi Art Vernon, Rabbi of the JCC.

GUEST SPEAKER THIS SHABBAT: Rav Simcha Hochbaum, one of the leaders of the Jewish community in Hebron, will be delivering words of inspiration this Shabbat morning, Parshat Vayishlach. Rabbi Hochbaum was born and raised in Staten Island and, as a response to the Oslo Accords, made aliya with his wife Leah in 1995 directly to Hebron. He currently serves as a Rebbe in Yeshivat Reishit Yerushalayim and as the Hebron Director of Tourism. Rabbi Hochbaum is famous for his deeply moving, spiritual tours of the two Holy cities - Jerusalem and Hebron. To book a tour with Rabbi Hochbaum on your next visit to Israel, go to www.hebronfund.org.  There will be a kiddush after davening sponsored in honor of Rabbi Simcha Hochbaum and the Jews of Hebron, who are moser nefesh enabling the Jewish people to continue to visit the city of the Avot and Imahot.

SHABBAT MEVORCHIM KIDDUSH. Our next monthly Shabbat Mevorchim Kiddush will take place on Shabbat Parshat Miketz, December 20th. We are looking for sponsors. If you are interested in being a sponsor, please email Heather Rutner at hwrutner@yahoo.com and let her know the occasion for inclusion in the announcements.

YOUTH DEPARTMENT NOTICES

SHABBAT GROUPS: In this week's Parsha, Parshat Vayishlach, Yaakov prepares for his meeting with Esav by sending Malachim to his brother. They return with a reply that Esav is coming to kill Yaakov and in response, Yaakov splits Bnei Yisroel into two camps so that if Esav attacks one, the other will live. When Yaakov comes to greet Esav, he is terrified that Esav will kill him but Yaakov has Emunah or faith in Hashem that Hashem will protect him and he greets him and showers him with gifts. This week's theme in Shul is the concept of Emunah or faith and the Chachamim say that, one who has true Emunah in Hashem is not only rewarded in this world but rewarded in the world to come as well. In honor of Yaakov's Emunah in Hashem as well as the showering of gifts that Yaakov did for Esav, there will be a "bag of gifts" given out to each child at the end of groups for those that attend groups. Another fun-filled week of groups but, as always, you have to be "in it to win it". Hope to see you all there!!

PARENT CHILD LEARNING: Don't miss out this Saturday night at 6:00 pm! You want to be there! We hope to see you! We are looking for sponsors as well as children to say Divrei Torah. We thank the Eckman & Nagler families for their season long sponsorship! If you want to sponsor for any simcha or a yahrzeit in future weeks. Don't hesitate! Send us an email at youth@ecdp.info. Can't way to see you all this Motzei Shabbat!
