REMINDER: Reminder to make an Erev Tavshilin!

MAZAL TOV to Deena & Neil Shapiro on the engagement of their daughter, Lauren, to Josh Gormley of Woodmere, NY. Mazel Tov to Lauren, to her siblings, Erica, Alyssa, Jeremy and Eitan, and to her grandparents, Sheila & Rabbi Chaim Shapiro, and Heshey Schwell. Mazel Tov to Josh, to his parents, Donna & Stephen Gormley, to his sister, brother in law, nieces and nephews, Tari & Jordan Brodsky, Ezra, Kira, Sadie & Natanel, and to his grandparents, Pauline & Gerald Feldman, and Selma Bieber. We thank the Shapiro Family for their generous contribution to the ECDP Simcha Fund in honor of this occasion.

Memo From the Building Committee: Given our vibrant and growing ECDP community, the Building Committee has spent the past year assessing our Shul's needs and planning for the future. It is with great excitement that we share "a sneak peek" of the architectural renderings for a new renovation and expansion project which will provide much needed space and opportunities for growth. More information on this project will follow after Yom Tov. In the meantime, the renderings will be displayed on the monitors outside in the Lobby of the Main Sanctuary and in the coatroom of the Sprague Street entrance. We encourage all of you to take a look at the proposed design and you will have opportunities to provide input and feedback. Please feel free to reach out to any member of the Building Committee with comments or questions (David Bench, Eric Bienenfeld, BJ Diamond, Michael Friedman, Gadi Goldress, Daniel Hanuka, Kobi Leifer and Jeremy Maryles).

MANC NOTICE FOR MEN: The mikvah will be open for men: Erev Rosh Hashanah, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 6 am till 12 noon; Erev Yom Kippur, Friday, September 29, 2017 from 6 am till 12 noon; The $20 fee is to cover costs.

SHOFAR: Anyone who needs a shofar blower to come to their home on Rosh Hashanah should contact Rabbi Schwalb at rabbi@ecdp.info.

SEATING NOTICES FOR ROSH HASHANAH 5778. We thank the Seating Committee for all their hard work. Seat locations have been emailed to all who purchased seats, if you did not receive the email or do not remember your seat location please check the posted charts for your seat location or contact a member of the Seating Committee (names below). Please note that we anticipate that all seats have been allocated. If you have an issue with your seat, or do not have a seat, please feel free to contact or approach a member of the Seating Committee, (Yossi Levy, Josh Kupchik, Natan Hecht and Av Sinensky) or one of the Gabbaim at your respective location. If you see an empty seat, please do not assume that it is available without first checking with a member of the Seating Committee or the Gabbaim.

PERFUME: There are a number of individuals in Shul who are very sensitive to certain fragrances common in perfumes and colognes. We therefore respectfully request that people attending Shul on the Yamim Noraim avoid or refrain from excessive use of perfume or cologne.

MINCHA and MAARIV & Shabbat Davening. There will only be 1 minyan at night. The JCC, Hashkama and Main Sanctuary minyanim will daven together in the Main sanctuary at ECDP. There is no assigned seating in the evening. All Shabbat davening will take place at ECDP. There will be no minyanim on Shabbat at the JCC.

MACHZORIM. Please feel free to use ECDP's Machzorim, but kindly return the Shul's machzorim to the rack or table where you found it after davening. While we understand that you are anxious to go home to your Yom Tov seudah, please be kind to those who volunteer to keep the Sanctuary neat (who also want to join their family seudah) and those who would like to use the machzorim for the next tefilah and return your machzor.

BEIT MEDRASH. There will be a walkway between the Beit Medrash and the Main Sanctuary section during Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur. Please be sensitive to the minyan davening in the Beit Medrash when opening and closing the door when the Beit Medrash minyan is in session.

SECURITY: The Shul has arranged for armed security over the Yom Tovim. The guards are all either off-duty or retired law enforcement. Please try not to distract them as they are here to focus on our safety. Arrangements have been made for crossing guards to be present.
The Shul was represented at a recent Nassau County Police Department meeting. The key “take-aways” were:
1. The threat level is not high, but we should not be complacent.
2. There will be increased police cars patrolling outside all Nassau County shuls and temples.
3. If you see something, say something; the first call should always be to 911.

We thank you for your consideration and understanding. Wishing all a Shana Tova. The Seating Committee and the Gabbaim.

RECAP: HONEYBEES EXPERIENCE: Thanks to everyone who came out to our Honeybees event! Over 40 children enjoyed learning about the history of beekeeping, how bees live, and how honey is made. However, the most popular parts of the program by far were when the kids got to try on beekeeping equipment, touch and smell real beeswax (spoiler alert: it actually smells like honey!) and watching a real beehive in action! When observing the live bees through the glass, many of the kids were already able to tell the difference between the different types of bees, such as babies, drones, workers, and more! Who know that something so educational could also be so much fun? (SHHHHH!!!!!)
