GUEST SPEAKER: On Shabbat Parshat
Hazon, July 29, 2017 we welcome guest speaker, Rabbi Reuvain Mendlowitz from
Ramat Beit Shemesh. Rabbi Mendlowitz is a practicing Magiah and has authored
Inside STA”M; A Complete Buyer’s Guide. Answers to all questions when
purchasing or maintaining Tefillin, Mezuzot, Megillot, Sifrei Torah and Nevim. He
frequently lectures around the world to raise awareness in these areas. Rabbi
Mendlowitz will speak at 8:10 pm following Mincha on the topic of “21st Century Scribes: Use of
Technology in the Checking of STA”M (Sifrei Torah, Tefilin & Mezzuzot). What
is computer checking and is it beneficial, recommended or required?” Mincha
is at 7:45 pm.

2017 Kol Ha-Ne’arim Tallit Project: We are very excited to announce the Kol
ha-Ne’arim tallit project for Simchat Torah 5778. We are offering the
opportunity to submit the names of your children, grandchildren, and/or
great-grandchildren to be embroidered on the Kol ha-Ne’arim tallit that has
been generously donated to the Shul by Rabbi Menachem & Leah Brick and family. The DEADLINE for submitting your names is
August 1, 2017. The fee for
including your child/children’s/grandchildren's names is $36 dollars for two
names per child. We ask that you limit the submission to 2 names per child
(first and middle name) for a total of $36. If you wish to include a third name
(or last name), please include a surcharge of $25 to cover the embroidery
costs. Non-members may participate as well, at a rate of $50 per child
(includes 2 names per child). The child’s names in Hebrew should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
YOUTH DEPARTMENT NOTICES
GROUPS: Thank you to everyone who participated in our extremely
successful Early Youth Groups trial, which ran from May 20th through
the end of June. your participation, feedback, and enthusiasm were extremely
appreciated, and we look forward to seeing all of you again when early groups
restart in September!
SHABBAT MORNING YOUTH GROUPS: Shabbat groups will start at 10:00 am and will conclude at the end
of davening. Anyone who comes to groups will receive tickets towards our next
prize redemption raffle! Also, as usual, any children who participate nicely in
davening at groups will be eligible for our weekly raffle! Each week, several
kids prepare and deliver short divrei torah at groups! If your children would
like to be part of the dvar torah rotation (and rewarded handsomely with

ONEG IN THE
PARK: Join us THIS Shabbat afternoon, July
22nd, in Cornwell Park
for our popular "Oneg”
in the Park"
event! Enjoy games, open play in the park,
cold ices, and a short schmooze on the Parsha! This weeks schmooze will be
given by Rebbetzin Sima Greer, on the topic of "Every Jew Deserves a Place
in Eretz Yisroel". The Oneg is for children grades 1-7,
but children younger than 1st grade are welcome with parental supervision. Drop
off is at Cornwell Park at 5pm, pick up is at 6pm. The
weather is supposed to be hot on Shabbat, so please send a drink with your
child as there are no water fountains in the park. Please ensure that you pick
up your children on time, as our staff will not be able to stay in the park to
supervise after 6pm. See you there!
NOTE: As of now there is a
chance of thunderstorms for Shabbat afternoon. If there is rain, or if rain
seems imminent, from 4 pm and onwards then the Oneg will be canceled and
postponed to a later date.
MESS DAY!: We are
extremely excited to introduce our first ever "MESS DAY", on Sunday,
August 13th! All children ages 2-5 are invited to join Morah Faigy
& Rafi from 9:45-11:00 am for the messiest activities around! The kids will
squish, squelch, splash, and mush a variety of messy materials as they make
their way through our fun activity stations! Then, wash off in the hose and
sprinkler outside! Make sure to wear footwear that can get wet, clothes that
can get dirty, and bring a towel to dry off afterwards! Admission is $18 per

NIGHT OUT: BASEBALL GAME: Join us on Sunday, August 20th for
a "Family Night Out" to the exciting Long Island Ducks vs Lancaster
Barnstormers baseball game, on Jewish Heritage Night! Gates open at 4:05 pm,
game starts at 5:05 pm. Pre-game "Meet & Greet" autograph session
with the baseball players, and post-game everyone is invited to "run the
bases"! Tickets are $15 per person. Children 3 years old & younger may
attend for free if they sit on a parent’s lap. To reserve your tickets, please

DATE: ECDP YOUTH KICKOFF EXTRAVAGANZA: On Sunday, September 10th
we will be having our incredible annual " ECDP Youth Kickoff Event",
from 4:00-6:00 pm at Cornwell Park, to celebrate the start of the new season of
youth activities! The event will include "Game Truck", Laser Tag,
Bubble Soccer, Bounce House, food, entertainment, games, AND MORE! This will be

is once again updating our list of babysitters in the community. The list will

any Strollers into the Shul. Strollers must remain outside all buildings.
Please do not bring food into the new sanctuary. Please remember to make sure
the lights are off and the doors are locked when you are the last or next to
last person to leave the Shul. Thank you for your cooperation.
MEMO FROM THE WELCOMING COMMITTEE The Welcoming
Committee welcomes new families to West Hempstead. Additionally, they arrange a
Friday night dinner to be delivered to new families for their first Shabbat. We
are looking for more volunteers that would be interested in offering to bring
Shabbat food for a new family when they move in. If you would be interested in
being asked to cook one or two dishes every 3-6 months (depending on how
